upon the prophetic origin and bearing of the books of Samuel and Kings

upon the prophetic origin and bearing of the books of Samuel and Kings. The Chronicles do not have the same character although, remarkably, we continually find in them the activity of the prophets. Even the Jews did not count them among the prophetic books, to which the majority of the books of history belong, but rather classified them among the holy writings headed by the Psalms.

two books of Chronicles. We owe these books to the prophets; they bear their imprint. So-called modern theological criticism should in no way influence the Christian's convictions on this point. The mere title, "the Prophets," enlightens us about the authors of the historical books with which we are occupied. The Word of God alone is enough to explain itself and to furnish us assurance as to its contents.

Henri L. Rossier was born on January 25, 1835 at Vevey in French Switzerland to a family that was among the first there to gather to the Lord Jesus alone. After studying medicine at Zurich and Wurzburg he settled in his native Vevey, where he lived a long life of devoted self-sacrificing service. At age 27 he married Madeleine de Graffenried from Berne, and the Lord in time granted them six children. He was a prolific hymnwriter as well.

We have previously remarked the same thing in the second book of Kings about these artificial divisions which are not part of the inspired Word.

The fellowship reading this book was so rewarding. Understanding who we are in Christ Jesus. You will want to pass it on. Praise God for his faithful servants.

The Book of Chronicles (Hebrew: דִּבְרֵי־הַיָּמִים Diḇrê Hayyāmîm 'The Matters the Days') is a Hebrew prose work constituting part of Jewish and Christian scripture. It contains a genealogy from a human being, Adam, and a narrative of the history of ancient Judah and Israel until the proclamation of King Cyrus the Great (c. 540 BC). Chronicles is the final book of the Hebrew Bible, concluding the third section of Ketuvim, the last section of the Tanakh

The books of the Chronicles were some of the last of the Old Testament books to be written and stand at the end of the Hebrew Old Testament. They are much more than a mere supplement to the books of Samuel and Kings. Rather, they teach us God's counsels of grace with regard to the kingship of His earthly people and to Judah as the Messiah's people. The first nine chapters of II Chronicles show us Solomon on his throne and building the temple. When the kingdom is divided after his death, David's line ruling over Judah is prominently kept before us. We see all that God's grace produces in the hearts of even the most wicked kings of this dynasty, while the same grace often silently passes over their faults. Hardback - 176 pages - Author: H. L.
