Supervision in Action" looks enticingly slim: a "quick read", perhaps? But unless the reader is already well versed in the complexities of supervision, the book will challenge the reader to think and reflect deeply, and perhaps to read it all a second time. This not a quick "how-to" guide, it is not "Supervision for Dummies". De Haan explicitly rejects prescriptive step-by-step methods as unhelpful. Effective supervision depends not in the first instance on the background or knowledge of the supervisor, but on the quality of - and the supervisor's.
Hayakawa masterfully distills how we use one of the most basic human mechanisms - words - and the avalanche of implications that follows.

We'll examine the interactions among the mind, the brain, and human relationships and explore ways to create a healthy mind, an integrated brain, and mindful, empathic relationships.
