Discussions focus on chemical oxygen demand, bacteriological measurements, heavy metals, effect of pollution on streams, lakes, and oceans, biodegradation, population responses, and exposure and latency.
Complex environmental problems are often reduced to an inappropriate level of simplicity. Measurement and Control; Environmental Impact; Environmental Ethics.
Environmental pollution is a subject of increasing interest and relevance to nontechnical students. However, few books have been written specifically to present the technical aspects of environmental engineering in an organized and simplified manner. This book emanated from a course given at Duke University for nonengineering students, and deals with environmental pollution problems, their. solutions and the difficulties encountered in implementing them.
Ecology and Environment book. The developing process profoundly alters the delicate environmental fabric with concurrent beneficial and adverse impact on status of the environment.

Pollution control is a term used in environmental management. In the hierarchy of controls, pollution prevention and waste minimization are more desirable than pollution control. It means the control of emissions and effluents into air, water or soil. Without pollution control, the waste products from overconsumption, heating, agriculture, mining, manufacturing, transportation and other human activities, whether they accumulate or disperse, will degrade the environment. In the field of land development, low impact development is a similar technique for the prevention of urban runoff.
Environmental pollution and control. Pollution and Environmental Ethics. In the book, we weave together aspects of environmental engineering and environmental ethics. living place not to be polluted because we do not want to get ill. In the second case we do not want to have pollution because it decreases the quality of our lives. We believe that a basic understanding of environmental sciences and engineering is impossible without such a broad perspective.
1 In these laws and throughout this text, a substance is considered a pollutant if it has been perceived to have an adverse effect on human health. In recent years, increasing numbers of substances appear to pose such threats; the Clean Air Act listed seven hazardous substances between 1970 and 1989, and now lists approximately 300!
