Personal experience of a well respected accepted family, suddenly, in a mind/body shattering expulsion from all they knew. Now labelled as prey, no longer were they citizens, now they were Jewish prey, . No longer living in a lovely home with friendly neighbors they were forced to be ever vigilant constantly searching for places to hide. Risking discovery every time they sought food or shelter. A gripping touching true account that will stay with the reader for its courage as well as the traumatic events.

With so much information on the horrors inflicted during the Holocaust available, it takes a small persoanl story like this one to touch the reader's emotions. To see events unfold through the eyes of the author - experiencing her pain and hope, courage, disappontments and strength - was wrenching and breathtaking. Katz's finely written story left me in awe of the family's will to survive. It makes you question your own humanity and wonder whether you would have had the strength to go on, as she did. Everyone should read this book!
