Keep your dog calm in the waiting room. Though he may be excited to meet other animals, it’s best to keep him on your lap or by your side. Pet him frequently and talk to him softly to help keep him relaxed. The more your vet sees your dog, the better they will be able to address his needs, and the more comfortable your dog will be at the clinic. Also, be sure to ask your vet for advice on caring for your puppy’s health at home including proper nutrition, exercise, and grooming. Taking good care of your pup in between vet check-ups will help improve the likelihood a good visit and reduce the need for unexpected health checks.

As a multiple dog owner, I was looking for a reference book to help become savvy in home care .... those trips to the vet can be so expensive! "Vet on Call" is concise but comprehensive. It's well-organized so you can look things up quickly, and it's written in language that's easy to understand. The great thing is that the book tells you how to develop a home first aid kit, how to perform a routine check on your pet ... and then it goes through all sorts of scenarios and possible illnesses/injuries -- what you can do at home, when you should be worried, and how to recognize true emergencies. I have purchased several copies of this book to be sure I have it with me whenever I need it -- it's great for travel, and I also keep a copy at work because I am always referencing and recommending this book to others. While I also have my American Red Cross Animal First Aid book on hand, "Vet on Call" is my first line of defense when it comes to taking care of my dogs. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

I really love this book. I think this book would be perfect for anyone to keep on hand. It has vital information with remedies, and ones that work too! It really gives me peace of mind that I have this book. It is well written and easy to understand. Some of the stuff the book recommends is the same stuff a Vet would to do treat your dog! I always go to it if my dog is sick and I can't get him to the Vet right away.

This copy was in great shape! Looked as good or better than the ones at the store. Got this copy for someone else because I have my own I bought at the store years ago. She couldn't believe that this was used! It made me feel good to give her such a good copy. Thank you.

I have found this book to be most helpful. It is easy to read and full of good common sense advice. The book has also given me much more confidence in treating minor problems that I would normally have worried about and ended up taking the dog to the Vet just in case I wasn't doing the correct thing. I would recommend the book to any person with a dog, it will be a great help to both the person and the dog.

Before this book I went to the Vet when Benji vomited because I didn't know what to do, but now I know and most of these expensive trips can be avoided. This book has already saved it's price.
