Cave was one of the most prolific contributors to pulp magazines of the 1920s and '30s, selling an estimated 800 stories not only in the aforementioned genres but also in western, fantasy, adventure, crime, romance and non-fiction

Adventure Tales showcases the best authors from the classic pulp magazines of the early to mid 20th Century. Hugh B. Cave when they return at al. .Dr. Stephen Spence is new to the village, but he has seen Evil before - when the darkest rites of Voodoo nearly cost him his life. But Voodoo has two faces; and the Doctor is beginning to see that only the village Houngan - Voodoo priest - may have medicine strong enough to defeat the forces calling from the cove.

He really evokes the wonders and mysteries of Haiti - you can tell there is a deep, abiding love of the Caribbean and its wonders - both dark and beautiful - here. Like most of his stories, I find the plot lacks a little something.
