by Martin L Gross

In Martin Gross' book, THE END OF SANITY, it becomes quite apparent that Bloom was absolutely correct. What he has not told us are the even more interesting questions of WHY these things were done and WHO is doing them.

In Martin Gross' book, THE END OF SANITY, it becomes quite apparent that Bloom was absolutely correct. Gross provides practical examples of what happens when society pursues public opinion over truth. Gross outlines how deconstructionists have supressed reason and denied truth in the name of philosphy. The only book I know that answers these question is While America Sleeps: How Islam, Immigration and Indoctrination are Destroying America from Within. 3 people found this helpful.

Social and Cultural Madness in America" ( Martin Gross, The End of Sanity: Social and Cultural Madness in America ) It came out at the end of 1997 of the year. Since then, two decades have passed. Let's put a mental experiment: what chances would a book with such a title in the USA have for publishing today? And on her hit the bestseller list? Chances are, I think, not even zero, but closer to the root of minus one. Among other things, Gross wrote: The outrageously irrational behavior with amazing speed is becoming the norm in almost all spheres of human existence.

In his most explosive and powerfully reasoned work to date, Gross exposes the roots of a crisis that heralds the end of sanity in American life, and offers cogent remedies that can reverse the damage already done, and lead our society toward a greater, saner tomorrow.

The book criticizes racial and sexual preferences, affirmative action and diversity movements in American social and political arenas. Mr. Gross is the author of several books and following his prepared remarks, he answered questions from the audience and signed books for them. At the University of Pennsylvania, separate dorms have been set up for minorities in the name of racial harmony. Grades are so inflated at Harvard that 84% of the students recently graduated with honors. Among women soldiers returning on a troop ship from Desert Storm, one in ten was pregnant. And these absurdities are but a few of the end products of a rampant social madness that threatens our nation--thanks, according to author Martin L. Gross, to a dangerous "New Establishment" of educators, judges, bureaucrats and military leaders who have consigned the concepts that have made America great to the cultural scrap heap. In his most explosive and powerfully reasoned work to date, Gross exposes the roots of a crisis that heralds the end of sanity in American life, and offers cogent remedies that can reverse the damage already done, and lead our society toward a greater, saner tomorrow.

In 1987 Alan Bloom wrote THE CLOSING OF THE AMERICAN MIND, predicting the insanity that would result from a politcally correct educational system.
He points out that current politcally correct thought is evidence of not only the real problems in modern mass societies but also of the superficiality of the response to those very real problems.
The decay of our society is a sad thing to witness, let alone read about. Yet THE END OF SANITY is oddly entertaining, and hopefully will awaken the American spirit before it is too late to be saved.

Great read.

The bad reviews for this book came from Washington DC, and "Saneville" probably a suburb of DC. This is an important point. The DC establishment does not understand, and never can understand the damage they do. Anyone that has to actually work for a living, raise a family and worry about reality will relate to Mr Gross.
While this may not be his best work, I think it is an important work and should be required reading in High Schools. (except Washington DC high schools where they measure illiteracy rates of high school graduates).
Read this book, I am buying several more copies to pass out to friends

I recently browsed through this again, and what Martin Gross lays out in detail is more relevant, powerful, and frightening than ever. The New Establishment he defines as the driving force for the disintegration from within, equipped with the perverse, destructive Trinity of Freud (victimization/entitlement), Marx (class warfare/income redistribution), and Jesus (guilt-based compassion/diversity and multiculturalism), has taken complete control of the 21st-century American psyche. People are bombarded by the mantras such as paying your so-called fair share, 'safe spaces,' Black Lives Matter, legitimacy of sanctuary cities, and transgender bathroom rights while there is a continuous threat of a terrorist attack on American soil any day of the week. Gross' work is an indispensable source for anyone to comprehend the Left's diabolical plan before any attempt to counter it can even be conceived. An amazing analysis of what was already taking place back in the 1990s and has now become the absolute norm in societal/human dynamics of today, these passages in the Prologue leaves the reader so much to ponder and how to survive in this ever-changing world of 'collective insanity': 'The attack comes in various forms, but it is united within a single rubric, the New Establishment, which is defined here for the first time and which has woven itself into the very fiber of the nation, weakening it as never before.' 'The most disturbing aspect of this new force is that it exploits America's desire to conform, an insidious way in which our culture suffers damage.' 'Today, we are living through such a form of collective insanity that daily gains in power despite its punishing effect on everything it touches, including the national psyche.' 'Like many tyrannies, it seeks to impose its supposed "beneficence" (more likely, vainglory) through intimidation and false dogmas that harm the majority of the citizens.' 'Rather than advance "fairness" and "equality" as claimed, these new forces have set back that goal a generation by producing a divided and divisive nation, a rare failure of onetime American civic genius.' 'By conforming to someone else's definition of proper speech, attitudes, thought, and behavior, we are both losing our freedom and violating common justice, attributes that had distinguished America from the once-dogmatic states of Europe and Asia. 'We gave these blessings to the world, only now to find ourselves losing them at home.'

Wanted to read up on someone who is being a watchdog to shed some light on what is going on in politics. This book makes you feel a bit bad about what is going on. Heard he has another book on how to cut some of the fluff from the budget to balance it and start paying off the big US debt. I'm into that.

It was a citing in one of Neil Postman's books that made me purchase "The End of Sanity," an unsuccessful work written to point out an invisible enemy called the "New Establishment."
The cover is almost identical to the Star Wars logo and on the back cover you read a self-gratifying section taken from the prologue and a 'the end is near' call. Now you're invited to save the world. So please proceed in !
First chapter is introduction. In one sentence, white males are being oppressed in the "New Establishment."
In the second chapter Freud and Marx are described as being the "Gods of the New Establishment." Mr. Gross touches good points when he argues about Freud but when it comes to Marx, there are no evidences, works cited, or any kind of economic argument that would make one believe that some kind of "hidden marxism" in the USA has been destroying the middle class. There are just meaningless arguments hovering in the midair.
In the third chapter he attacts women, attacks women, attacks women, attacks Yale Medical School Admission Officers (for admitting women) and attacks women. Mr Gross should spend some time and read "The Mismeasure of Man" to have an idea about the Bell Curve. What he should have done was to clearly say "I hate women !"
In fourth chapter, Mr. Gross turnes his interest from women to universities. Here, Brown University appears as the next victim. It's difficult to believe in what I say so let's read what Mr. Gross has written : "Despite that, in the modern world of academic deception, Brown has an undeservedly fashionable reputation, particularly among those who fail to gain admission to Harvard" (Gross 110). Does he get paid for writing such kind of phrases ? I don't think so because Yale, Stanford and Harvard are the next in line to receive free tuition! Surprisingly, Columbia happens to be the only 'proper' university in the USA according to this book. As a Columbia undergraduate student (but not CC), I can tell that the Columbia Administration, apart from offering money, would not even lend their sins to Mr.Gross. (By the way, many students at Columbia, including minorities are quite happy about the core curriculum.)
Then there is the immigration section where immigrants are attacked. Please bear in mind that in this section you'll read how the "ultrarich" hates poor immigrants. This section would not be different if those ultrarich Americans hired a writer to express their displeasure from seeing non-white people waiting at the local bus stop from their multi,multi-million dollar houses. However, this section is worth reading and it clearly and aptly expresses some gaps in the constitution that are exploited by illegal immigrants.
The madness expressed by Gross clearly exists, but his work is much closer to a ufology type of non-creditable work rather than being a scientific study. You might get excited, very very excited but this book will not satisfy your mind. (It can not!)
I received this book today from Amazon and very soon this bestseller author's title will return back to Seattle.
