This is the know how of how to make any form ( design, shape with beads). How to embellish, how to do back stitches, whipped stitches, Pekinese stitch. Now that is one I never even heard, also how to overlap bead crossing, thread crossing , dangles, fern stitch, fern stitch with a detached chain , sequin or bead edged herringbone , satin stitch filling, etc. In this book you learn how to make design stitches with diagrams and lots of information. Its a dictionary of stitches and formats. This is a big book filled with lots of information and technique. It's filled with so many more stitches etc. that I cannot put it all in this space. If you are interested in bead embroidery this book is a must have for how to do the work and I mean work. My review on "Heart to Hands Bead Embroidery" by" Robin Atkins" gives you the mental skills of what's necessary. Do you ever get up wanting to make something and then you don't know where to begin. It's like a mental block. You see other designers work and you want to know how did she ever think of that. Well, most of the time you can't get all the information in one book. Each designer offers two parts to the equation.

Most bead embroidery books survey covering a project entirely with beads or at best a few stitches related to embroidery with beads. Embeadery covers over a hundred classic embroidery stitches done with beads. The instructions and technique are phenomenal and the applications for the information are pretty much without number: crazy quilting, jewelry making, clothing decoration, linen decoration and other decorative arts are just a few uses to which this information could be put. The book also reviews sizes of beads, needles and techniques in a clear and humorous manner that helps the reader actually take away the needed information to buy beads when overwhelmed by the choices of brand, size and color. The only criticism I have of the book is that the projects provided are to a one ugly and uninspiring, but this is not meant to be a project book, this book is meant to teach technique which the embeaderer can then apply to their own projects and designs. The clear instruction will make this book valuable to the beginner and the advanced beader and is the best book I have seen for multiple emboidery techniques with beads on cloth. Recommended to all who love either embroidery or beads.

Finding books about beading is easy but they seem to be about making jewelry. I needed a book about beading on fabric so I could embellish my quilts and clothing. There are not many of those available.

This book is excellent. Each of the many stitches in the book is illustrated carefully with drawings which supplement the descriptive text. The instructions are written in first person so I feel the author is talking to me as I try a new stitch. I was amazed at how many stitches she included in this book. Toward the back of the book the author has included several projects that use stitches from the book as well as some colored photos of stitches and the projects. I found those helpful.

In addition, the author has included a list of suppliers of equipment and beads as well as some books on the subject of bead embroidery she particularly likes. This could be very helpful in the future if I continue in this hobby.

I guess it was the combination of my favourite color combinations, beads and crazy quilts on the cover that grabbed my attention. Then looking through the book confirmed this was another 'keeper'!

Interesting ideas, good layouts and well written. I think you'll get a lot from this book.
