This is a nice little book on shaktipat and kundalini maha yoga from what appears to be an authentic source. While I am initiated on another path, my experiences and the process of this undertaking is much the same as outlined in this book. This book has helped give some nuances to a few questions I have had on my mind regarding the process of shaktipat and in that regard is priceless as it is a unique path and few in this age are really competent to actually work and/or discuss such things properly. I only wish it was longer or with more detailed responses and have ordered his other books as well to see what light they may shed. With that being said I don't know of how much use this book would be to somebody without exposure to such a path or teacher, though may pique someone's interest to seek out such things in which case read on!

You have probably been going to your yoga classes and are beginning to dig deeper and treat yoga as more than an exercise class. You may have read the Bhavagad Gita, liked what you read, and are starting to treat yoga as a spiritual practice. You are starting meditation with your yoga, like the self-awareness you have discovered, but still have questions.

Shakti is the spiritual energy which pervades and permeates in the world. Shaktipat is the transferring of that power from the guru to the disciple. This power is transferred during the spiritual initiation.

This book simply provides questions and answers regarding what to expect upon becoming spiritually aware, how you can expect to feel, and what to believe and what to discard. Questions like

What should the disciple do before approaching the guru?
What is the disciple required to do in the spiritual initiation?
Is it proper to have other people present during the initiation?

The spiritual journey is one not traveled by many people, and one of the reasons a guru is recommended is to have him or her answer questions about what the disciple is experiencing of feeling. Questions like

What does it mean when I spontaneously laugh, cry, sing or tremble?
What does it mean when I see lights and movements?
Is it alright if I just want to be alone in my spiritual practice?

These are not ordinary questions. Those questions are exactly why scriptures discuss the need of finding a guru. But in a busy world, a guru cannot be reasonably found.

This book is a roadmap that can be used during the spiritual journey. In addition to questions and answers, the book contains a glossary of terms used throughout, and an article written by the spiritual school that published the book. While a book is no substitute for the real thing, and while some questions appear to be geared to the spiritual school which published the book, this book is next best thing.

This book is written by Swamiji who himself is on the path of devotion from a very long time. This book is really good for the aspirants on the path of shaktipat. The book explains the topic to them in a very simple manner. Please also read the book by Swamiji;s Guru Swami Vishnu Tirtha Maharaj. But, this book will require a very good technical understanding on the subject and a very serious aspirant must read this book. What else?
