Proper walker use is important. Learn how to choose the best model and how to use the right techniques for navigating curbs, stairs, and chairs. When holding on to your walker, your elbows should be bent in a position that feels comfortable and natural. The top of your walker should be even with the crease on the underside of your wrist when your arms are relaxed at your side. Walkers that are too low cause you to stoop over while you walk, which impedes proper body mechanics. If your walker is at the wrong height, you will be prone to aches and pains. It's also important that you only use a walker that has been chosen and adjusted for you.

Charles Clendell Walker (born 1934) is a former Mississippi state checkers champion and minister. He founded the International Checker Hall of Fame in Petal, Mississippi in 1979. Walker is also known in checkers history for his record-setting victories in simultaneous checkers matches. In a January 1992 match that lasted over eight hours, he played 229 checkers games simultaneously.

The peak year for the Charleston as a dance by the public was mid-1926 to 1927".

Discovered in Charleston, South Carolina, being danced by black dockworkers, the Charleston first hit the general public through the medium of the Ziegfeld Follies in 1923. In a sanitised and technically simplified version it soon swept the social dance world of the USA and went on to conquer the world. At the time it was regarded in many quarters as vulgar and degenerate, and was soon supplanted by other dances, but in the public mind it remains indelibly associated with the roaring twenties. This 1925 instruction book, here reprinted for the first time, gives full and detailed instructions on how to dance the authentic Charleston.

Interesting little book. I'm uncertain whether anyone could learn anything from a book about dance, but used as an aid or reference to enhance live instruction, it might be useful... perhaps. Unfortunately, this fifty page book, which saves it's suggested ballroom routine for pages 31 and following, is printed pages 1 through 30 - the last 20 pages being left blank.

I returned one copy explaining how it was defective only to receive another that was exactly the same way. I suspect that all the remaining copies have the same defect, and we could go on and on like this for a very long time.

This is a nice, inexpensive way to get started with the classic Charleston dance, and it is also an interesting historical document providing insight into the popular culture of the roaring 20s from the contemporary perspective of that time period.

It would have been nicer if this book had additional sections dealing with more advanced moves, but one can always search for instructional DVDs on this dance, such as those available in the "World of Swing" series: World of Swing DVD #12 - Charleston and World of Swing DVD #13 - Charleston 2.
Since this seems to be the only book currently available that specifically deals with the Charleston dance, it is definitely a useful reference.

Please disregard the mistaken review somebody posted last year alleging that this book is defective. As clearly stated on the back cover, the blank pages were added intentionally to bulk up for binding. So there is in fact NO missing section here. The content just goes only to page 30.
