Something More addresses the need and desire of mature women to get back to their authentic selves, which we left .

Something More addresses the need and desire of mature women to get back to their authentic selves, which we left behind when we took on all the "roles" we do of marriage, motherhood, career. I agree with the author that we did indeed leave behind a good chunk of that "girl" who loved to paint, write, climb trees, sing and dance. This book is about finding her again, for she is our true self, the Something More most of us sense is missing from our lives. A great message, well written and instructive.

When I was struggling over ending my marriage after recently declaring that I was an agnostic, I saw this book in a book store and sat down to look through it. I was from a southern, conservative state where agnostics or people who were not christians were looked upon with suspicion. It was a very difficult time for me and this book, literally, saved my life. This book gave me permission to ask and expect the 'something more' from life that I wasn't getting. It gave me permission to live my authentic life, to be my authentic self, and to love myself for who I was. I will be eternally grateful to Ms. Breathnach for this book. I buy copies of it all the time and give as gifts to younger women, especially if they are struggling in life. I highly recommend everyone reading this book because it is truly eye opening and is a source of peace and comfort.

I am a 63-yr-old woman who has read Something More just recently. A 19-yr-old reviewer did not find the book very helpful and I can see why. You have to have LIVED to get the point of the book. This absolutely saved my life, 20+ years ago I lost my father, went thru a divorce and had major surgery all in 3 months time...I found this book to read purely out of boredom and found it to be so very helpful. I have given as a gift and recommended this to so many people going through self doubt and self worth. I keep it by my bedside and have highlighted and tagged so many pages. So worth the read!

In this age of heady discussions of what makes a self a self, Ban Breathnach speaks with simplicity and heart-felt wisdom about how a woman can find herself. A woman's journey is unique from a man's. Perhaps it is a blend of strength in the market place, where work makes demands, and softness where creating home is concerned. It seems to me that Ban Breathnach has struck the middle path, and, in sharing some of her journey, encourages others to be brave in forging their own. Loved it!

I've lost count of how many times I've purchased this book. It insinuates common sense into the complexity of being human. It offers new perspectives on everything from daydreams to worries. It has a calming influence and it encourages self reflection. This book is meant to be savored, and made personal. I suggest you read it with a pencil or highlighter in hand because it's okay to make notes along the way that you can go back and find later. I've given this book many times as a gift and each time the reciever says - how did Sarah know me so well? All of Sarah's books are works of thought-provoking art.
I have seen the author on Oprah numerous times. I decided to order this one for additional personal development. The book can be read straight through or by skippingaround. No matter what, it is worthwhile if you are focusing on advancing spiritually and emotionally.
