The emphasis is on pure non-duality (or Advaita), which points directly to the true nature of the one who is John Wheeler attracts a growing audience of seekers who are moving beyond traditional spiritual disciplines towards direct understanding.

I discovered John's books after having read over thirty other books by almost as many authors on Advaita/Nonduality. His, as I said, are the first books I would recommend. If you have read Nisargadatta and Sailor Bob Adamson, you'll love this book, too. (If you haven't, check them ou. Every chapter of each of John's books is relatively short, and every paragraph makes plain something very insightful and worthwhile. They bring you to a "Full Stop". The topic, of course, is called the "Direct Path", and its very essence is simplicity.

When John asked if I would write a preface for his new book, I agreed in a twinkling. He promptly e-mailed a copy of the draft, saying in that quiet, off-hand manner of his that it was the same old, same old. I was thrilled to hear that, given that it is a format which has worked beautifully for him in his ve previous works.

Real World article(written from a Production point of view). John Wheeler (born 20 June 1930; age 89) is an actor who made his major television debut played Tellarite ambassador Gav in the Star Trek: The Original Series second season episode "Journey to Babel"

John Wheeler attracts a growing audience of seekers who are moving beyond traditional spiritual disciplines towards direct understanding. Clear In Your Heart contains further dialogues, correspondence and direct pointers in the style of John's previous books. The emphasis is on pure non-duality (or Advaita), which points directly to the true nature of the one who is seeking. This approach reveals what is real and true about who we are and clearly exposes the false ideas and beliefs that generate doubts, problems and suffering. The result, as shown in the dialogues in this book, is that those who are willing to explore these pointers come to a direct experience of freedom and the end of seeking and suffering.

This is a phenomenal book. I went to the ER for a possible heart attack while reading this book, and spent six transcendent hours in the ER without a shred of concern or worry. I'd never paid $50 for a paperback, but this book was worth every penny.I am grateful for such clear writing. Oh, and it turned out that I didn't have a heart attack. I guess you could say I was Clear in My Heart. Please receive my heartfelt gratitude, Mr. Wheeler! xox

After many years of seeking, reading too many books, and meditating, I picked up a copy of John's book, halfway expecting redundancy of what I had read many times before...and given advice that sounded good but ambiguous when the reader attempts to translate it into workable advice. To say that what I actually got was a pleasant surprise would be an understatement! His advice was clear and concise, and, if followed precisely, answers the questions that the reader may have been working on unsuccessfully for quite some while. He did this not only by very clear writing, but by reinforcing this with redundancy, repeating his answers over and over, but using different language and metaphors, and by holding the reader on the relevant questions rather than letting him be led astray with related, but not particularly germaine issues.
In his book, he continually tells the reader to quit reading (even his own books!) and to spend the time examining his own direct experience for the answers to the questions he poses. He also directs the reader back to the source of questions he might have when it becomes clear that the reader is looking for answers through the mind, thoughts the ego presents. In the few emails John and I exchanged, he continued to stress this, as he said it in the book, in fact, to the point of irritating me a bit! When I finally did what he asked, however, and indeed, found the direct evidence he said was there, I thanked him for not wavering, holding my feet to the fire, and expressing confidence in my that I just hadn't klooked deeply enough. Being the great teacher that he is, he knew he could not simply give me the answers. From experience he knew that I wouldn't see them. But byo forcing me to find what I needed, things clicked when, indeed, my mind opened and I found what was needed to complete the picture. John was very patient, and had the confidence in me that I thought I, myself, lacked.
An axiom I have found true is that one does not truly understand something he is saying unless he can explain it to others so clearly that they, too, understand what he is saying. Thank you, John. The clarity and patience you demonstrate, without a doubt establish you as such a teacher.

Having just finished reading "Clear in Your Heart", which, I believe, is John Wheeler's clearest and most penetrating work to date, I'm reminded of a caveat by John given to this writer personally during a recent (and truly enjoyable) telephone conversation: John's suggestion: "Listen, Don, don't overshoot the mark!" Words can neither describe nor explain the profound effect this advice had on me; the best I can do is share the great joy and relief associated with (at long last!) the cessation of "chasing my own tail".
John's latest book, written simply, methodically, and even, perhaps, poetically, has the capacity, if read attentively, to once and for all bring home to even the most frustrated and cynical "seeker" the ultimate truth: This, here and now, is it! Such was, is, and always will be the case, if you merely stop mentating and simply start looking! What a wonderful irony to finally have this realization which, of course, was never absent in the first place.
If your goal is to finally realize your true nature and to at last pull back the curtain on your fictitious "personhood" then, by all means, buy this book!

if you are considering this book because the style of writing resonates with you, then i highly suggest getting a copy. i also suggest contacting john and getting doubts cleared up via a continued exploration in what is and what is not the case when examining one's existence. there is no over or under examination of awakening any longer just seeing head on. john describes it as awakening to the natural state. it is continuous, now and prior to concepts just as he points to in his writing and spoken words.

Great Book
This is the sixth book by John Wheeler, each one adopting a similar format of dialogues, questions answered, and pointers. The point of non-duality, according to John, is to clarify what you are. He is quite unique in the sense that he remains focused on this core teaching, totally mindful of crossing that fine line into conceptual thinking. From one perspective John's writing is like a tradesman; answering questions with amazing patience and unwavering adherence to the truth of who we are. A close inspection of his writing style indicates beautifully crafted sentences and fresh metaphors that flow along in a very appealing manner.

The magic of John Wheeler that I alluded to in the heading is simply this - he is never boring! Even though his topic is always the same, the words have a vibrancy that is forever fresh and immediate. He describes our natural state with such a powerful conviction and intimacy that there is no doubt he is coming from a place of total freedom. I have read all six of his books and while they are all superb, I find there is a subtle evolution in his ability to express the truth of what we are. Reading his pointers is like a gentle rain falling upon the parched earth of our conceptual prison! John has been instrumental in helping a growing number of people to a non-conceptual recognition of their true nature.
