This to me had tremendous potential to be a great biography. I believe the reason I did not enjoy it was that it was written by a lifelong friend of Vinny's that liked to see his own name in print more than was necessary and also give detail of Vinny's sexual escapades which did not
seem to add to the story. The book misses out on alot of Vinny's life and
boxing career. The only salvation I got out out of it was that there were
alot of quotes from Vinny, but not one thanking the author for writing the book.

I am a huge boxing fan and am very familiar with Vinny (Pazienza) Paz's career. Unfortunately, this book is a waste of time. It's written by Paz's childhood friend, which means the entire book reads like a public relations puff piece. Vinny Paz lived his personal life just like he fought, with wild reckless abandon. Yet the author portrays Paz as an alter boy, and fails entirely to mention Paz's longtime bout with alcoholism and his countless DWI arrests, his immense gambling problem which resulted in Paz writing bad checks to cover incredible debts to casinos in Vegas and Connecticut, and Paz's never ending domestic violence towards his various stripper girlfriends. The book also fails to mentions Paz's IRS problems and bankruptcy, and glosses over the relationship between Paz's father and the R.I. mob. Had the author been unbiased in his writing and gave a no-holds-bar and factual account of Vinny Paz's life, this book would have been an incredible read, and somewhat on par with The Raging Bull. Instead the author makes excuses for Paz's ring losses throughout the book and portrays the fighter as a happy go lucky, naïve victim of boxing politics and injustice. The book also covers Paz's incredible recovery from a broken neck and his desire to return to the ring. But because of the author's lack of writing experience, the drama and impact of Paz's brutal accident comes out weak and emotionless. Choosing to write about how Paz's doctor interrupted a sexual encounter between Paz and his girlfriend in his hospital room, days after his neck injury, should give you an idea of what this book is about. Save your money.

I did not see the "Paz" fight all that much but when I did I knew I was going to see a wonderful boxer! I highly recommend this book to everyone; in particular those that think boxing is just a 'show'. It is not and this man proves it with all the put himself through. Congrats Mr. Paz!
very interesting story
