I spent my childhood in the 1950’s and came of age in the 1960’s. I remember the fads described in this book. I remember Gidget, Annette Funecello and Betty Furness.
The author does a great job of bringing these years back. She writes about drive-in movies, teenyboppers or mini skirts. The years float back.
I recently discovered one of Catherine Gourley’s books in a downtown bargain bin, and I have buying more of her books on Amazon since. Her books are fast reads, less than a 150 pages of pictures and facts. These books are highly recommended to the social historian, the baby boomer, and the millennial. Your grandparents really were as crazy then as you think they are now.
